Diablo 4 test footage has leaked online

A major leak (opens in new tab) happened to more than just GTA 6 yesterday. In the hours following Rockstar’s highly anticipated sequel’s leak, around forty minutes of Diablo 4 test footage leaked online, showing the upcoming ARPG’s gameplay.
Reddit user iV1rus0 discovered the footage in two videos uploaded to files.fm. The first video was roughly five minutes long, while the second was approximately 38 minutes. The Diablo 4 leak appears to stem from a private Discord stream, which was recorded by a viewer, unlike the GTA 6 leak that came from a hack.
The first video shows two viewers having a telephone conversation using modulated voices, presumably to conceal their identities, while Discord notifications are heard in the background. In the first viewer’s suggestion, “Are you watching Skye right now?” is asked, after which the second viewer tries to guess the game being played, with guesses including “Witcher 2” and “Skyrim 2.
There is no doubt that the footage is from a test-build of the game. The game world is heavily watermarked, and certain objects like bridges and buildings are untextured. The footage mostly shows the Barbarian character exploring Diablo IV’s game world, traversing rugged environments and engaging in some impressive combat.
The silver lining of the leak is that Diablo 4 appears to be coming along well. The footage demonstrates the size and openness of Diablo 4’s world. Due to the dynamically expanding map of the game, it’s unsurprising one of the stream’s viewers initially thought it was Skyrim(opens in new tab).
This leak is much more substantial than the one from an Alpha build that occurred last month, so Blizzard is likely to identify the source easily, given the amount of information in the footage.
